The Upgrade

The Harrington started life as a British golf jacket, went to Hollywood on James Dean and Steve McQueen, then came home as a mod and punk staple. FRAHM's Racer version crossed it with the MA-1 bomber, and this AW26 edition finally gives it the warmth to last past September. The shell is dense gabardine twill from Halley Stevensons of Dundee, finished to shrug off rain, with a high funnel neck, built-up shoulders and oversized hardened stainless YKK zips.

Inside Story

The interior is the real treat. Pure cotton baby corduroy quilts over a layer of Primaloft Silver 60g insulation, and the same cord lines the collar and snap-adjusted cuffs, so everything that touches skin feels soft. Rated from 2 to 14 degrees Celsius, it covers the long stretch between a shirt jacket and a parka.

Seven Pockets

Quilting gave FRAHM room to build out storage. You get two zip chest pockets sized for a big phone, moleskin-lined hand pockets set at the right angle, an inner zip pocket, a ticket pocket, a lower book pocket for a paperback, and a stainless key carabiner. It comes in eleven sizes with free sleeve alterations, in Navy Blue, Sage Green and Black for £615.
