Ressence Type 10 DN

Ressence puts its first in-house movement inside a 41.5mm titanium case coated Dark Night blue, with an oil-filled dial that appears to rise right up to the sapphire.

One Color, One Object

Case, dial and integrated rubber strap all wear the same deep blue on the Type 10 DN, so the watch reads as a single sculpted form on the wrist. Ressence fills the upper chamber with 2.95ml of silicone oil, which kills reflections and makes the convex titanium dial look pressed against the double-domed crystal. There is no crown to interrupt the profile, since winding and setting happen through the caseback.

The RW-04 Arrives

Earlier Ressence watches mounted their orbital display modules on modified outside calibres. Now the brand has its own engine. The self-winding RW-04 packs 252 parts and twin barrels for 60 hours of reserve, driving the oil-filled ROCS 10 module through a magnetic coupling across a titanium membrane just 0.1mm thick. All told the watch counts 538 components and weighs 82 grams on the strap.

Reading the Dial

Three tilted satellites orbit the face to show hours, a 24-hour second time zone and a 120-second runner, while the minute hand sweeps a ring of 24 faceted titanium segments. A color shift in the hour display tracks the temperature of the oil. Production stops at 100 numbered pieces at CHF 45,000 (about $54,000), with deliveries starting in November.
