FREITAG's Reference R203 Mazie turns a handpicked truck tarp into a 26 to 40 liter convertible tote with a factory-inspired clasp and its own repair kit.

Tarp, Not Leather

Anne Bachmann built Reference around materials that were never meant to please a fashion rack. Each Mazie starts as a used European truck tarp, cut so the scuffs, fade and branch marks stay visible. The bag arrives with a history and keeps collecting yours.

26 to 40 Liters

Collapsible sides let the silhouette go from a wide shopper to a tighter upright carry. A detachable mini pouch handles keys and cards, while recycled polyester lining, an A5 pocket and a zippered compartment keep the interior calm. The magnetic clasp came from a shelf hook Bachmann spotted on the Zurich factory floor.

One-Off, With a Repair Kit

Every Mazie ships with tarp left over for fixes, plus lining and thread, so the same skin can be patched later. White, silver, red, blue and limited black colorways sit around $620 at freitag.ch, each one a different tarp.
