Sixth Chapter

Pas Normal Studios makes some of the most coveted kit in cycling, and PORTER maker Yoshida & Co. has been sewing bags in Tokyo since 1935. Their sixth collection together looks at bags from the saddle, with pieces that clip to a bike and pieces built for the commute on either side of the ride. Every piece ships with a drawstring pouch carrying both logos.

The Backpack

The hero is a rucksack built around an adjustable hood that buckles down over the main compartment, so it carries a light load as neatly as a full one. Zip pockets sit on the hood and the front, a bungee lattice holds a layer on the outside, and a sleeve inside fits a 13-inch laptop. It measures 43 cm tall and weighs 968 grams.

Two Nylons

PORTER pairs a dense nylon oxford for structure with ripstop nylon for abrasion resistance, then closes everything with lightweight Vislon zippers. The same brown fabric runs through a tote with cinch-cord pockets, a frame bag that lashes to the top tube with five loops, a handlebar roll, a folding saddle bag, and a coin case.

Price and Availability

The backpack is $750 in Light Brown and limited to one per customer at Pas Normal Studios, or JPY 99,000 at PORTER stores in Japan. The rest of the collection runs from $152 for the saddle bag to $470 for the tote.
