Lookout Tower Logic

Sorensen-Jolink trained as a contemporary dancer before founding Coil + Drift, and his new Strut collection started with the exposed wooden frames of fire lookout towers in the Catskill and Rocky Mountains. Two solid wood planks stand apart on slim metal struts, leaving plenty of open air through the middle of the lamp.

Built for Ember Light

Cloth-wrapped cords run in parallel from shade to base, left in plain view as part of the structure. Up top, an elongated linen shade throws a warm, low glow closer to a campfire than a desk light, a counterpoint to the focused beams of the Touch collection that launched alongside it.

Choose the Grain

Strut comes in seven brass and chrome finishes, five woods from natural ash to walnut, and natural or chocolate linen. The table lamp starts at $3,298 from Coil + Drift, with pendant, sconce and floor versions in the same family, and the full collection is on view through October 21 at Colony in New York.
